Mulled Wine

"This recipe was given to me by an American friend ( 'Auntie Carol' ) and has been much used - it is the basis for the mulled wine served on Collection Day at Kings Coppice Farm."

Syrup

Make by boiling for 5 minutes the following:

  • 20 fl ozs sugar
  • 10 fl ozs water
  • 4 doz whole cloves
  • 6 sticks cinnamon
  • 3 crushed nutmegs
  • 3 lemons , peeled and cut up
  • 2 oranges , peeled and cut up

METHOD

  1. Strain syrup
  2. Add 32 fl ozs hot lemon or lime juice (unsweetened PLJ type)
  3. Heat well
  4. Add 4 bottles red wine

Serve hot with slices of lemon and pineapple or oranges

* For a non - alcoholic version substitute red grape juice for the red wine *
